The P0420 code means there is an issuie with the catalytic converter on bank 1. This can cause stalling, but in most cases won't.

Ok. It sounds like there is either a problem with one of the cam sensors or the crank sensor. If you have a problem or code for either of these sensors, it will cause the symptoms you have and also the VDC will be disabled. I have an aftermarket Remote Start and Alarm installed and Warrantied by Nissan of Queens but they can't seem to figure out the problem but say its because my Brake Pads are low. When the car is turned on, the VDC system activates automatically. Turning the car off and back on should turn the VDC system back on if it has been switched off and the Vehicle Dynamic Control OFF indicator light is on in the display. It might also be possible to restart the system by pressing the VDC button once more. This is most likely the issue. I had these same lights come on in my G35 and after replacing the camshaft sensors, that fixed the issue. They turned them off in under 5 minutes, it was free and i didn't have to wait. they did it right away. San Diego California, Deadhorse Alaska, Miami Florida, and New York.The simplest thing to do is to take it back to the dealer. My 2008 Xterra had the VDC/slip light on when it was delivered. Just took it back the next day and they fixed it. Not really sure what the problem was. They said the steering angle detector (or something like that) had to be re-adjusted and the computer had to be reset.

If I hit the rear diff switch the REAR DIFF light goes out and then ABS and SLIP come on. I can hear the 4wd engage both high and low when I turn it on with my door open.The Nissan dealer was of course very willing to take it in and diagnose for two hours for $200.
