5. Feb 15, 2008. #1. I have what i believe is a late 80's 150 black max xr4. The Fuel is premixed. My problem is this: When idling, the motor starts flooding/loading up. Smoking real bad and will eventually die if left there idling like that. If i crank and throttle up and run it runs like a dream. The XR4 comes from the factory with an "advance" module on it. It advances the timing a bit at 5000 rpm, then retards it at 5500 rpm, causing the torque curve to effectively hit the wall. They are all strong 150's. XR2 and XR4 came with 4 1/4 in lowers. XR6 came with either 4 1/4 or 4 3/4 in lower.
