Estimated average drop rates are 25% (Legend) and 33% (Master), BUT that is also an average over a very long run. It could take as few as 1 run or as much as 30 runs for a drop. The draw for Lost Sectors is the targeted drops, but the trade off (to say nightfalls with better drop rates, but no targeting) is that the RNG could be VERY shitty. 2.
On the map for either europa or the cosmodrome there will be 1-2 extra icons highlighted. If you go to them (actually travel to them) and select the flag outside the lost sector it it'll put you into a version of the lost sector on either master or legend difficulty. Last Seasons lost sector specific exotics now drop from the world pool and not just sectors . Apologies if it's been mentioned but really happy about this. The 10 or so few exotics that I have masterworked, all of them came from either world drops, GM/Master drops or the occasional Xur cracked roll. I occasionally hop in Lost Sectors to get the new exotic they release every season, but that's it really. Farm GMs instead of Lost Sectors. Just don't farm this week.

I'd argue its still painful and not worth the hassle, especially in Master mode. I don't agree with a lot of complaints on this sub, but exotics should always drop with a workable stat roll. Whether that be just high in 2 stats or even distribution, it should never be sub 60 totals. I've probably gotten a 100 junk exotics over the years and it kinda burns me a bit when I get junk like that.
