The Drake has high armor and no shields. I was able to kill it with a 20k fleet of corvettes and plasma cruisers only. Just have enough corvettes to use as cannon fodder and the cruisers will nuke the drake easily. Shard is an Acrel spawn and his ability to torch the planet is pretty new. Usually to do that digsite in the future, wait before excavating the last part. Set your fleet into the system and give him the middle finger. Shard needs a year to sterilize that planet, so it leaves you time to go at him once.
