November 18, 2023 | by mckenna1. Got admitted to L&D at 4pm yesterday with full blown contractions 1.5 minutes apart. Went from 1 cm dilated 0% effaced to 4 cm dilated and 70% effaced in 4 hours. Then everything came to a halt and I only dilated .5, 11 hours later.I had a membrane sweep at 39 weeks, lost my mucous plug that night and had mild contractions (so mild I could sleep through them) for the next 2 days. Baby came at 39+4 with no other intervention needed. I highly recommend the membrane sweep to anyone on the fence, it was a bit uncomfortable, but very quick and for me it was quite effective.What does it mean when you lose your mucus plug?
