The 2012 and up Jeep JK wrangler fan on the 3.6L Pentastar has a few key characteristics: It is an Outrunner motor design. This doesn’t have much bearing on diagnosing problems, but it’s a key difference from the more traditional fan designs in the earlier Jeep JKs. Took it for an oil change and coolant love was very low; below the low level. No leaks or pools of fluid are ever seen.
A built in timer/relay causes the system to go Closed Loop after a few minutes of the engine running. Closed Loop just means that the O2 sensors are being monitored as an additional input to the fuel management system. Started to overheat after a trip to an ORV park but I washed the radiator out and its pretty clean on the outside. Also drained and refilled the system completely.Sep 8, 2019. Jul 28, 2020 · On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK. Particularly if you're running the A/C. When cold 100% of the coolant bypasses the radiator. Also it is not really possible to make the JK radiator any larger in area - only thicker - which is marginal for extra cooling. You're missing an important point with the hemi swaps - the radiator load is proportional to engine output.I went carefully, following pirate's guide with adjusted preload and torque settings for the d44. Preload is within range and the gear compound showed a great pattern. I did the 20 mile break in/cool down, then drove it 60 miles to work at about 65-70mph, beginning the 500 mile break in period. Mine was starting to leak, and liquid was living in the valley of the engine. This is how I found out mine was leaking:yeah, the middle is a bit high for the 3.6L especially if you are driving. But like you, normal temps for my 3.6 is just slightly above the 1/4 line. The only time when I see the temp gauge move is up to slightly below the 1/2 mark, and that us when im driving in a parking lot for like 20 minutes at low speed. The the fan kicks in and the temps ...A couple of weeks ago the electric radiator fan came on during a 2 hour drive and was very loud. After that day, that fan now comes on at full speed whenever driving more than about 10 miles on the highway. At full speed, its loud! I took it into the dealer and they replaced the TIPM computer and said it was fixed.The JK is still over heating. Coolant is Genuine Mopar Coolant, also. It is NOT consuming any coolant at all, it has not gone down since the last flush. There is coolant pressurizing the hoses and in the radiator. The heater works fine.
