Probably could have honed the remaining 4 cylinders but ended up with a full rebuild kit off ebay for $900. That plus $129 for new lower end berarings, new oil pump gear $40 and $300 for the bore & hone. So for $1,350 I am fresh and good to go. I will say that it was an interesting rebuild.
Re: oil injection removal Merc V6 only You need part number 43453 if it is available. That retains the pump driveshaft bushing and plugs the hole where the pump mounts. Then remove the oil components and the warning module. You'll also need to remove the fitting that the oil tank pressure hose attaches to and plug the hole in the block.Drain the oil tank, fuel tank, and fuel lines. Remove the carbs and plug the inlets. Remove the oil pump and install a block-off kit (depending on the model) Remove the oil reservoir and the oil lines (depending on the model) Fill up with premix and spray oil into the carbs. I had a `99 Mercury EFI 200hp that I bought new and I ran for 10 years with oil injection intact without trouble. 40. 33. Nov 4, 2015. #1. I'm posting this because I never seen anyone else post this method on here. 1. I removed my clutch cover and took out the plastic gear then removed the pump. 2. I didn't have a block off plate, so I used the rubber plug that's in the water pump outlit and jammed it in the hole where the oil pump sat ( it fits perfectly.

One would then plug the line going into the fuel pump. One would then mix 50 to 1. 2.6 oz per gallon. I mix 43 or 45 to 1, which is 3 oz per gallon. So much easier to measure.

I disconnected mine today with the help of Laddies and I feel so much better.At 100:1 fuel oil ratio, 1536 / 100 = 15.36 teaspoons/hour oil usage. 15.36 teaspoons/hour / 60 minutes/hour = 0.256 teaspoons oil/minute or 0.512 teaspoons for 2-minutes at idle. Therefore it appears that the fuel oil ratio is actually 50:1. But it's Your bike. Do what ever you want. The biggest mistake people make is letting the reservoir run dry. Then fill the reservoir, but don't bleed the air out of the pump. The pump can't pump air, so the oil doesn't get to it, therefore doesn't get to engine.

I would advise against this, on the grounds that there are oil routings that go to crankshaft bearings, and a few other places. The oiling systems are very good on these engines, as far as operation and warning systems go.
