I've noticed it's alot easier to upgrade the great sword especially if you get the somber smithing stone 1&2 bell bearing also find the bloodhound step ash and apply it to great sword. Closes distance quick, better than roll low for cost and can dodge stuff like poison or scarlet rot mist. Now I find myself using great sword more often now ...

FromSoftware, Please fix the DarkMoon Greatsword Tracking. I know I can't be the only one who is mind blown at this issue. I did not go through one of the lengthiest (if not the longest quest) in the game, to get a broken weapon. The DarkMoon Greatsword tracking is so bad, it's actually laughable. Literally, even when on a flat surface LOCKED ...It is a very good weapon. If you're trying to min/max or just use the best weapons in general then it is outshined by some others, but that shouldn't really matter if you like it. People may recommend Moonveil but if you prefer bigger weapons then the DMGS is a good option.I used the moonveil in the early/mid game but it's boring to use as it's so insanely overpowered at a certain point and quick that no enemies are a challenge and you breeze through everything so I stopped using it and did a quest line that got me the dark moon great word and it's a great sword but again it's kind of boring to use.Discussion & Info. I wanted to sound out how other people feel about the Dark Moon Greatsword in Elden Ring. I've been using it as my main weapon on my Int build, and my thoughts are: It's amazingly powerful. A small expenditure of FP gets me a great buff on the weapon, and the R2 launches beams. Dope.I struggled with an Int build using moonveil or darkmoon great sword. Just couldn't out dps her heals as im terrible at dodging and blocking. Respecced to arcane/dex with RoB +9 and breezed through phase 1 with mimic +10. Phase 2 I got her down 50% quickly, cleared rot buildup when she did her blossom move and took her down spamming the weapon art.

One of the best greatswords, period. Excellent on a 150 or lower build, as it needs very few stats to hit its full power. In fact, the only difference between level 60 and 80 with Darkmoon is about ~4% damage, and with poor scaling in anything but int, it reaches its full power very quickly. For PvP (and sometimes PvE), can be combined with a ...

Good armor for a dark moon greatsword/spellblade build. Right now I’m rocking the noble traveling armor, with carian knight greaves and gauntlets along with the blue hood. I think it looks pretty good but I would like some late game sets that match thematically with the build. I was thinking either the fingerprint or royal knight set but ...

The beam is purely magic damage and scales with int. The only melee physical damage of the sword scales with dex and strength. I'd say strength if you want to use big damage chonky weapons like the jaw in addition to the Greatsword, and dex if you use mainly spells. The difference is minimum damage wise. Should definitely go dex for cast speed.12. Greatsword of Artorias (Cursed) Not to be confused with the other GoA, this cursed variant may boast decent base damage and good scalings. But do not be fooled!. With C-scaling in every combat stat, you would need to invest evenly in every one of them to get any decent results from this weapon.. And worse still are its incredibly fiddly requirements of 24/18/18/18 strength/dex/int/faith ...Some enemies have rediculous poise. Some I think have infinite. But in general yes, it will stagger much more than curved swords. In pvp greatsword should flinch anyone below 100 poise I believe. Greatswords inherently have more poise dmg than Curved Swords due to being a size up.I wanted to switch my weapons up to something with a bit more oomph for the tougher mobs here, and powerstancing Death's Poker with Dark Moon Greatsword does the trick. I still swap back to my katanas for faster mobs or bosses where I need the speed and potentially bleed, so I now alternate between both sets of weapons. Still, having a blast.

Moonveil is really fast to use and does great damage. The nerf hasn’t changed that in the slightest. I think most weapons are better than the DMGS. Dark moon is pure unusable vs a lot of bosses and it's not just because of the cast time for the special.

The one handed attacks are good and the weapon art will be more fp efficient than anything else (theoretically at least, if you can hit enemies with the beam). Id also recommend only leveling int to 62 and using the stargazer talisman for rannis darkmoon or the full moon spells cuz they are the only things useful at the 68 int requirement that ...

Darkmoon: more damage, frostbite buildup, less FP cost, better stagger w/ ranged charged R2s, but slower and requires higher risk to get max damage, as you ideally want to be close enough to hit the boss w/ the wave and the sword.
