Would suggest getting someone to turn the wheel while you are watching to see if you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from.The pistons & connecting rods are moving up & down. They usually make a knocking sound when bad. The lifters, push rods, rocker arms, & valves are moving up & down. They make a ticking or pecking sound when bad, & if bad enough, will cause the engine to miss. The camshaft is spinning at half the rpm's of the crankshaft.Replace the bottom end of the engine. Usually not worth it unless you truly hate the sound. Demand the dealership to replace the engine bottom end that started piston slapping early. Trouble is, you cannot expect to succeed in this for over 10-year old car. Just continue driving the ticking car.
