Your valves could become damaged if you never check the clearance/redo the shims on them. Or maybe you like to rev it up loud before the engine is warm. That would eventually bend a valve.

The 1st couple years of the Vulcan 800s, the used different ratios for 1st and 2nd, resulting in a 46 tooth rear sprocket, these use a longer chain, the 114 links. A couple things that'll wake up the 800 I've done are to debaffle the stock pipes, and Grampsized the air filter housing, see link below. Great tips on here. Proper jetting needs done along with these mods. The 18/40 spockets really change the way this bike accerates, makes the gears stretchout more. The clutch does not grab until I am like a quarter inch away from letting the lever go.
