Not a scam. I was a member for a long time. Fortunately the PF I went to had a bench and some extra barbells that could be used for other compound exercises and dumbbells up to 100 lbs.. It was an older gym and still hadn't been forced to remove their benches. No other racks or serious lifting equipment though.
