First time Lilith, you probably want Mind Games. It's her most OP skill and makes playing her and the game easy. Get a Double Anarchy (SMG) and you will roll everything. Phoenix is my favourite build, though and is also amazing. You'll need a good Firefly mod and once you add in a Hellfire, it's a lot of fun.

Still, Lilith abuses the elemental skill tree better than any other playable character in the Borderlands franchise. She can spray bullets from each element and cloak behind a Phasewalk. This allows the elemental damage to be put to work while she hunts for cover. It’s a very rewarding gameplay loop. Corrode, Electrocute, Burn, Rinse, Repeat.
So, for an enemy that takes high damage from critical (basically, having a very weak spot), this damage becomes marginal. But criticals are the only way you can damage Crawmerax, so you might as well take Slayer. Before you start the fight, make sure you have similar equipment listed. Get a feel of the battlefield.

I think it makes the game better. Thats what its all about is making a build that can destroy your enemies and keep you alive. Lilith just makes this goal easier.
