I think the reason it was renovated was to increase the hype associated with ISR. Before the renovation, ISR was known as kind of a boring dorm where a lot of engineering students lived. The dining hall was underused because the food was not great quality, and the dining hall is kind of out of the way unless you live at ISR, LAR/Allen, or PAR/FAR.

Larger selection of good food and desserts, but the vegan/vegetarian options can be lackluster. Nice, large fitness center, game room, movie room, lounge, etc. The dining hall is very spacious, and people will be there even at 3 AM. The dining hall has an adjoining private dining hall and "glass" dining area which are nice places to work.
