Nov 26, 2018 · Good choice in purchasing a Wolf, I own the Optima V2. Even though it states you can use 150 grains, I never found the need to use more than 110 -120 grains. I have shot .430 240 grain XTP, .430 265 FTX, 250 grain SST. They are all accurate, I have only harvested deer with the XTP. I am using 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 and the FTX's this season.

To me the difference in barrel length is a non-issue. For a few years, and many deers, i have been carrying a 23" barrel. It works good. However, in my opinion, the opening/closing latch on the Optima V2 is a way more better than the latch on the Wolf. My choice would be the Optima V2, because of the latch mechanism.

The CVA Wolf works great with 777 under a 100grs. For magnum loads the CVA Optima is better because of the longer barrel. The CVA Optima is just more gun you can tell by holding it. Both shoot great but if you want to shoot heavier loads go with the CVA Optima.
