Always keep your shards until there is a 2x event. If you don't have champions to advance, just level food, get some potions, do dungeon runs for better gear. Raid is a slow game, it's okay to be stuck once in a while. Next ancient 2x should start October 1. To caveat, most 10x weekends are traps.
