Jul 25, 2022 · My experience with 124gr HST, in either standard pressure or +p, is that they are exceptionally accurate in Gen 5 Glocks. Like I was able to shoot a 3x5 card at 50 yards 3 out of 5 times freestyle with my Glock 19. Stupid levels of accuracy. In my Glock 45 I shot a 6" group at 100 yards.
There are, however, some considerations. Perceived recoil from HST +P loads is stouter. In the handguns used for testing it wasn’t a concern, although the velocity numbers don’t lie. Even from a 4″ barrel, it’s pushing close to 1,200 FPS. The 9mm, 124-grain HST +P load, for example, generates 366 ft.-lbs. of energy at the muzzle.Rumor has it that the extra powder in +p doesn't have enough time to fully burn in the short barrels and therefore is a waste. its not wasted. the +P will crony higher. the higher pressure stuff is only slightly higher so the recoil/terminals debate rages on. im only speaking of HST 124gr. here.
