Dual wielder feat lets you use two weapons that aren’t light. So you could use two long swords, rapiers, or scimitars instead of daggers or short swords.

The dual wielder feat is bad for a dex based character. Being able to off-hand a normal weapon instead of a light weapon means one of your two weapons get +1 damage on average. You also get +1 AC. Or, you could just take a dex ASI which will also get you that AC, +1 damage to both weapons instead of just one, and then a whole lot more.
