When I got the new 300 Win Mag built for me, I tried the RL-22 and 180 Accubonds for the first time and worked up a 300 yard ladder to find maximum velocity / pressure and stopped at 76 grains and 3,260 fps when I saw pressure, so backed off to 74.5 grains at 3,175 fps for accuracy. I am using Norma brass and CCI-250 primers.
Oct 14, 2004 · 0. I've had three 300 wins. I've never been stuck with the SAAMI minimum COA length. I use the regular 180 Partition seated to the base of the neck at about 3.6. If your magazine lets you and your not into your lands, who cares about the OAL and supposed short neck. I think your shorter magazine boxs are the converted military rifles like a m98. Average velocity readings on the Oehler are 3,091 fps, 3 shot group size average (10 groups)of 1.28" at 100 yards in my Ruger Model 77 Mk II. This load is rather warm.Rifle : Browning Stainless Stalker with 26" tube. Brass: Virgin Winchester run through full length resizer, primer pocket uniformed, flash hole deburred, trimmed to length, chamferred and deburred. Primer: Federal 215M. Powder: 80.5 grains of H1000. Like you, I currently use H 4350 in my .338 Win Mag. However, I have had good luck with IMR 4350, IMR 4831, and RL 19. I have had ok results using RL 22. I am shooting H 4350 with the 225 Partition.

Interestingly enough, I played with 220 grain Partitions in my 300 winnie, and did better then 2700 fps with good ole IMR 4350. And the most accurate 100 yard groups of any bullet wt and load I tried out of that rifle.
